LEIVONMÄKI National Park, Finland

It was basically a family vacation.

the place we were looked like an endless forest with plenty of lakes around.

Fishing was a bit slow, the temperature was up to 29 degrees Celsius for last two weeks.

The was was like warm tea tea. Anyway I have managed to get some Pike on my flies.

My First Pike Fly

Tail: Chartruse Syntetic hair, Steve Farrar UV Chartreuse, Green Flashabou, Green Flashabou magnum, Red Flashabou Magnum, Crystal Flash, Cock Grizzly hair. 
Head: Olive Deer hair.

This season on Jordan river.

The season never actually ended, the were no many rain this winter and we fished it right through.

The river is very low now, though fishing is very very good.

September trip to Lough Mask, Mayo, Ireland

A little late about our trip to Ireland in September.
We were based at Lough Mask, Mobile Homes. This is in Mayo county.
The first two days we were fishing traditional Irish style with wet flies from the boat.
I can tell you it was real hard work. We had plenty takes and few nice fish.
On the third day we went to check river Robe, despite everyone telling us that the water level is too low.
Right on the first spot I got a small trout. At the next spot we noticed plenty Daddy Longlegs at the grass, while walking to the water. So we switched to dry flies, and the action was just fantastic.
The next days we spent there, we've checked the Castelbar river, it was very similar to the one we were fishing.
Fishing was fantastic in Ireland, even though we did not really catch any trophy fish.

We were mainly catching largies this time, much less small scales.
The big one took just behind the stone in the main stream.
The star of the season now is a Jig nymph, that Murray Pedder of FFU has showed me.

Now the season in on strong. Plenty bites, very strong fish, nice Sedge hatch in the evening.

The road to the river is quiet bad, and we had to push the car a couple of times.
Maybe we should wait and so in Jimmy's 4WD....
The little bridge was washed away during the flood and the river is quiet high for the season.
Plenty Caddis larvae under rocks, but we had only little fish takes.
We only have had had half a dozen good takes...
I had a very good bite early in the morning, but after a long run the line snapped.

Yellowfish, Vaal River

So we finally got to Vaal river, thanks to Murray Pedder from Fly Fishers Unlimited.
We planned it for a couple of trips, but the weather was not right until this time.
The weather was perfect and we got to the river around 07:00 in the morning.
First casts just below the rapid brought a small Yellow.
The river is just beautiful, with monitor lizards jumping here and there to the water.
Murray took Ella to deeper part, and they have caught some very good size Mudfish.
More upstream they had a good Yellowfish.
We had some outstanding fishing throughout the day.
The largest Yellow was 2 kg.
